[ Okay, yeah. Pumpkin forgotten for now. This is way more juicy, and not in the unfun way the pumpkin is. ]

I think we've established the witch part, ahaha. I can wrap my head around that okay. [ She's read some Harry Potter! ] But, er, hiding? Why does that always seem to be a thing?

[ She smiles weakly then waves a hand, making a pumpkin seed she didn't know was still stuck to her fly off. ] I can probably guess that part, too. Persecution? Fear of being an easy solution to problems? Humans are dumb?

[ Because, again, she's read some Harry Potter. ]

Basically. They tend to set things on fire that they don't understand.

[And while Josie understands the urge to set things on fire, she tends to draw the line at people. Most of the time.]

But it's not just humans. Vampires tend to use witches to get what they want if they can find them.

Or delete them, in my case. Ahaha.

[ The laugh was weak, and so's her smile, but it says a lot that she can at least joke about herself now.

Hold the phone, though. Now vampires are involved? It's...a little hard for her not to get excited about that. All her vampire romance novels make them seem exotic and romantic, to no one's surprise. Would it be weird to ask if they're good kissers, or if getting bit is as great as she thinks it'd be? ]

Is there...anyone that actually likes you all, then?

Not really.

[At least, not in the way that wants to protect them.]

My world's kind of complicated.

[ She smiles a bit ruefully. ] Guess we have something in common, then. Erm, not that I have a real world or anything, but...you know what I mean.

[ She looks away a moment, trying to get over her awkwardness. It's always a strange feeling, finding people who get her, or at least have an idea of what it's like to not belong in the world. She never thought she'd have the opportunity. ]

If it makes you feel better, I don't think there's anything wrong with what you are. And like, I wouldn't want you use you or something. Or expect you to be the next coming of technological Christ.

[ Not speaking on her own experiences here at all. ]

[She smiles softly at that, before reaching over and placing a hand on her shoulder.]

[ The touch startles her. It's not a bad thing, really! She's just a little too used to that leading to either making love or pain. Not like, comfort or anything. ]

Ahaha. Um. Thanks. [ Eventually, she shakes her head and waves a hand. ] Sorry. I'm not used to that reaction. Then again, I'm not used to actually telling people what I am either...

[ After a hesitation, her hand settles on Josie's and gives it a squeeze. Hopefully the pumpkin remnants aren't much of an issue. ]

It's nice not to feel alone.

[Nah, they'll make it work. Josie squeezes in return before nodding.]

Yeah. It is.

[And then they'll go back to pumpkins and talk about much lighter things.]
