Lizzie doesn't feel guilty for having the thought at all. Elena being here has been immensely comforting, not least of all because of the talk they had when Elena first arrived.
"Well, we arrived at the same time here, which was weirdly lucky. Maybe it's the weird twin connection thing -- like when she uses dark magic it effects me too, I don't know."
It's as good of place as anywhere, to start.
"At the time our dad was here, and then our mom was here briefly too, but they're both gone now. And I just have to say -- it's so nice to have an adult who isn't Klaus Mikaelson around."
Not that Klaus hasn't been helpful, and she's happy for Hope and all, but it's still hard to know if they can really trust him and Kol or not, their dad has filled them with a lot of anti-Originals propaganda. And even if he hadn't....
Elena is their aunt. So she is still infinitely the superior choice.
Josie's ... dealt with Klaus and Kol more than she probably should have, but she's more than happy that Elena's here. She knows she shouldn't trust the Mikaelsons, but this is what happens when you have to make due with what you've got.
"And an adult who's ... ours. Not Hope's. No offense intended to Hope, she's great. I think you'll like her."
There's a small pang to learn Alaric and Caroline were both around not long before she arrived. She hasn't seen Alaric, particularly, in years. She misses them, but their absence only fortifies her desire to protect the twins - their girls.
"I met her, briefly. And you're right, I did like her."
It was not without some discomfort, this first meeting. Klaus Mikaelson loomed large in between the silences and after, but Hope is not her father, and Elena isn't in the business of holding someone accountable for things they didn't do.
finally hits this up

"Are the three of you close?"
